8K Super Hi-Vision(SHV) is a next-generation video technology that provides an overpowering sense of realism and strong visual impact. ASTRODESIGN has been working on 8K SHV technology since its very beginning, resulting in the development of a variety of SHV equipment still being used today.
The Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) has conducted extensive research and development on the Ultra High Definition Television (UHDTV) format called Super Hi-Vision in Japan. 8K SHV boasts a resolution of 7680x4320 or 16 times the pixels of the current HD format.
This video is viewed at 60fps in progressive video format. The feeling of immersion is impressive, with objects being displayed with a far more natural sense of depth.
ASTRODESIGN has been collaborating with NHK since the advent of SHV, leading to the development of many necessary pieces of equipment added to the SHV catalogue. Regarding spatial resolution, 8K Super Hi-Vision’s is 7680x4320, 16 times that of current HDTV (1920x1080), and its 60 frames per second progressive scanning makes its timing resolution twice as much as current HDTV 30fps. Moreover, UHDTV defines appropriate viewing distance as 75% the vertical length of the display. People can enjoy a much closer position to the display than with HDTV and experience a 100-degree wide-angle view. These specifications make UHDTV quite immersive.
Not only the video, but 8K SHV’s audio is top-quality as well. A 22.2ch audio system includes twenty-two audio channels and two low frequency channels. The system includes three layers with 9 speakers at the top layer, 10 at the middle, 3 at the bottom, surrounding viewers from all directions, as well as two woofer speakers in front. This system provides a real-world audio experience.
